Unholy, Unhinged: A Workshop on Eliciting Fear and Unease through Dance
This workshop provides a basis for developing dance routines that elicit fear and discomfort in audiences. By understanding common movement vocabularies and perverting them; by examining the interplay between the sexual and the grotesque; and by employing the instinctual ways humans use body language to communicate threat or conciliation, we can manifest characters such as The Beast, The Alien, The Killer, The Ghost and more.
This workshop is based on applying horror design theory (Bernard Peron, Keiichiro Toyama, etc.) and body language coaching principles to a theatrical dance context.
