Soca Sweet 6-7:15pm Caribbean dance to soca music, focuses on isolation, footwork, and expression. Wining, jump-up, body rolls, stamping, palancing, overall fete vibes is what soca is all about while celebrating the perseverance and liberation of afro caribbean culture. Kulture & You (A BIPOC focused but not exclusive workshop) 7:15-8:15pm A character, and concept building workshop where we work on the approach of these elements when building a character with your life experiences and Kulture. For marginalized folks and folks of colour cabaret and burlesque doesn't have archetypal gimmicks, stories, and characters to play off of that reflect us specifically, so we must bring our own to burlesque and drag, authentically and unapologetically. This workshop will not only tell you to do it but also show you how many different ways you can do it. Please note: This workshop is open to all and is not BIPOC-exclusive. However we ask participants to respect the space occupied and contribute with care, prioritising BIPOC voices. Kage Wolfe has been teaching dance in Toronto for over 10 years. He has a variety of dance training from various styles of street dance, African dances, and Jazz. He has taught burlesque dance and character workshops throughout Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and B.C. Canada. Location: 172 Guiges ave, Robert Studio Friday Aug 7th 6:00pm-8:15pm Cost: $60+tax for 2 workshops 1hr and 1.25 hour
