Clowning for Burlesque

This class will help you be more grounded and fully present in your burlesque performances and unlock your playful side. During this workshop you will move through a series of clown prompts and suggestions that you can freely engage with in a way that works best for you and your body. We will work through these exercises with the goal of becoming more grounded, present and creative in the moment. This will also help develop skills for creating and maintaining a clear character on stage. This is a fun, creative class with the goal of waking up your inner clown and getting a little silly so please come ready to play!

 

Please wear clothes you can move easily in, running shoes or barefeet is best for this movement style, please bring a water bottle. Knee pads are optional as there may be some floor work or movements.This class is open to all skill levels and mobility.

 

Polish: Hands, Feet, Tips and Tails

This workshop will focus on getting the most out of your movements and creating Moments on stage. We will work through movement drills that focus on extending and finishing your movements, creating shapes and lines with your whole body and playing with movement and stillness in your acts. Please wear clothes you can move easily in, bring the shoes that you normally perform in(dance heels or flats are recommended), please bring a water bottle. Knee pads are optional as there may be some floor work or movements.This class is open to all skill levels and mobility.

 

About your instructor: Holly Von Sinn (they/them) is The Vivacious Firecracker hails from the dust-ridden streets of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada but now calls the vibrant city of Montreal home. As one of the first solo dancers on the Canadian prairies they have set aflame stages all over North America and Europe. Well known for kicking up a storm on stage that will leave audiences dry mouthed and sweating. As a purveyor of bad habits, a lover of clowns and a loather of restraint, Holly Von Sinn’s work takes the smouldering flames of passion and mixes in the best of bizarre glamour, making a truly tantalizing cocktail of a performance, leaving audiences both shaken and stirred.
